Use a sharp knife to cut the squash in half, through the center lengthwise. Run your knife through the center of the squash from top to bottom. Use gentle pressure as you rock the blade back and forth until all the way.
Use a spoon to scoop out the seeds and membrane from the center of each half. Discard the seed membrane or save them to roast.
How to Cook Acorn Squash in Air Fryer
To make this air fryer acorn squash, start by preheating your air fryer to 180C/375F.
Cut the squash into two (2) halves and scoop out the seed membrane.
Place the squash in the air fryer basket, skin side down, then season the fleshy part with salt and black pepper.
Spoon the butter equally into each squash, use a pastry brush, and brush the inside with a thin layer of butter. Pour the maple syrup into the squash and brush it all over.
Air fry acorn squash for 15-20 minutes or until it's fork tender. After 10 minutes, check the squash and baste wiht the sauce. You can do this once more before the end of the cooking time.
Remove from the air fryer, serve warm and enjoy!
How to Store
Fridge - put it in an airtight container or wrap it with a cling film and store it for up to 3 days.
To reheat - put the acorn squash in the air fryer basket. Air fry at a temperature of 150C for 5-7 minutes.
Tips
- You can cut the squash into slices or quarters.
- If you have nuts, feel free to use them to get a nutty flavor. Sprinkle some chopped pecans to make a great topping.
