Air fryer potatoes and onions! A delicious side dish you can serve on its own or with a dipping sauce or any dinner of choice for a complete meal. The potatoes always come out crispy and tender on the inside. The onions are soft and translucent with a succulent crunch. You should try it!
This version of diced potatoes and onions in the air fryer is easy and quick to make. It requires minimal ingredients you can find at home. This dish is budget friendly and for potato lovers.
The air-fried potatoes are seasoned with onion powder, garlic granules, salt, and cayenne pepper. Peeling the potatoes is a matter of preference; you don't have to peel the potatoes, and you can use sliced potatoes instead of cubed ones. You can also cut the spuds into wedges if you prefer.
This potato recipe is naturally healthy, gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan.
Crispy Air Fryer Potatoes and Onions
I love this recipe because it is versatile; you can serve potatoes and onions for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner. It is delicious on its own as a snack or appetizer with your favorite dipping sauce. It also goes well with vegetables, chicken, steak, or fish.
I used my Instant pot vortex 5.7L for this recipe. There is no need to parboil the potatoes; allow to cook until fork-tender before adding the roughly chopped onions, and continue to cook the potatoes with the onions until crispy and fluffy. If you do not fancy the sight of onions in your food, you can finely chop the onions in small sizes or use onion powder.
How long it takes to preheat the air fryer depends on your air fryer brand and model. My instant vortex air fryer preheats automatically for about 2 minutes before the cooking cycle starts. For any other brand of air fryer, preheat the air fryer for 3-5 minutes at the temperature recommended for the recipe.
Ingredients
Potatoes: you can use any type of your choice. Some of the best potatoes for this recipe are Maris Piper, Yukon gold, Russet, or red potatoes. Cut into even-sized cubes for even cooking.
Yellow onions
Garlic powder
Cayenne pepper
onion powder
Olive oil: any other flavorless oil will work
Salt to taste
Air fryer temperature varies depending on size, make, and model. My delicious cravings recipe time is subject to a preheated air fryer. If you are trying this recipe for the first time, deduct 2 minutes from the cooking time and increase it if needed to allow the food to cook evenly.
